Ok, now I have to tell you about all my Thrifty decorations!

This is my new official hobby: "thrifting"! It's so much fun! Searching through loads of crap, finding things that you can't figure out what  they are or where they came from, and then spotting that one awesome thing that you just know will fix up so cute with just a coat of spray paint! About 80% of my decorations are from the thrift store and the rest were either gifts, mostly from Circe, or super cheap finds at Ross or the dollar store. Mind you, I didn't find these all in a week. I've been thrifting these things since about last summer. It's a hobby of patients. Here are my finds:

Door thingies: DI, $4, painted white

Wreath: Circe

Wood utensils: DI, $0.75 each, as is.

Fruit: DI $1 each, painted white

Butterflies: DI & Savers all at different times $0.25-$0.50 each as is (I need to paint them all the same shade of white)

Headboard: DI $8, painted white

Dresser: DI $50 painted white, hardware painted "oil rubbed bronze", added glass nobs.

Wire baby carriage: DI $2 as is

Princess money bank: Savers, $3 as is

Calendar Holder: DI $4, painted black

Calendar: $1 dollar tree

Wicker organizer: DI $7, had original tags on it from Pier One for $32, as is.

Frame: DI $2 painted black.

Art inside: free from the artist Carole Taylor (I did cub scouts with her. She gave me a bunch of her prints she just had sitting around. LOVE her!)

Bag of jelly beans for potty treats: $2, walmart

Metal church tower candle holder: DI $2 as is

Shoe: Saver's $1.50 as is

Shutters: DI $1.50 each for a set of 4 shutters

Wreath: Big Lots, super cheap.

Stool: Saver's $3 potty stool painted black, mod podged paper on top.

Yay! I have a house!

We are moved in!

(Not totally unpacked yet though.)

It's SO great! I feel spoiled and unworthy.

Moving is so much fun!

These are our living conditions. Yes, there is a toddler bed in our front room. Lucy is getting a "big girl bed" when we move, so she has been sleeping on a mattress on the floor and Lydia has to stay in the crib until we move, since they share a room. (I don't even want to try them together without the crib.) I wanted to paint the toddler bed before Lydia started sleeping in it after we move.

There are boxes in every nook and cranny.

One thing I will miss is my awesome neighbors.

This guy lives across from us. Apparently his mower is broken, because he has to pull it backwards behind his homemade ATV.

I can't believe we are finally getting out of an apartment. It's been over 7 years and 5 apartments! The good thing...I'm REALLY good at packing and moving by now. (also, thanks to my mad box making skills picked up from working at The Rag Man)

So, we're out of here! Wish us luck!

Baby Cows!

We stopped and fed the baby cows that we always see on the way to grandma's house. The girls were so excited to feed them until they saw all the flies buzzing around the cows heads. Then suddenly it wasn't so fun.  But after we left Lucy said, "I think those cows love me. They are so sad I'm not there. We should go back so they aren't so sad."

10 DAYS!!!!

We move into our new house in just 10 days!

I could have us out today though. I think I got a little too excited and packed things too early. I don't really have anything left to pack except food, clothes and toiletries, and we still have 10 days! Our apartment is looking real cozy with walls empty of all decorations and lined with boxes.
YAY FOR 10 MORE DAYS!!!!!

Wisdom of Children

I asked Lucy to get a bite of her dinner for like the 5th time and she looked at me, tipped her head and said, "Bla bla bla?" Mike laughed and said, "That's probably exactly what she heard you say,'bla bla bla.' "
 He's probably right! I sound like the adults on Charlie Brown. "Wha wha wha, wha wha." That's why my children never listen to me!

Lucy's primary teacher told me that they had their lesson about ways to get to the temple, like getting baptized, having a testimony, etc. After the lesson was over she asked them, "So, how can we get to the temple?" Lucy said, "You get in the car to go there."

Yesterday Lucy had an accident in her pants at grandma's house (grr...you are too old for that!) and it was her turn to say prayers later that night. So this is part of her prayer: "thank you that we could go to grandmas and have cupcakes, and I forgive you that I peed my pants, and I'm so sorry..." It was totally sincere and really cute. We just need to work on the wording a little. :)

Lucy got in trouble for something and was sad about it and Lydia was curious. She said, "Are you happy?" Lucy pouts. Lydia in a sort of Russian dictator voice, "You go to doctor. Get SHOCK! (shot) You feel better." That really got Lucy laughing.

House Progress!

We have counters!

And our appliances! The stove is there, but not installed yet.

I can't wait till I have a dish washer that doesn't leave grainy-soapy residue on my dishes and occasionally leaks out the side no matter what kind of soap I use or how many times I have my land lord come fix it, and a microwave that opens without you having to hold the button down while lifting and pulling the door open!

Yay for two sinks. Now Mike and I won't be spitting on top of each other when we brush our teeth at night! (And he can see how dirty HIS sink gets when he leaves his mouth wash spittle in there. And he thinks I'M the messy one!)

21 more days till we move!!!!

They had all the light fixtures set out in all the rooms, so those will be in soon. Then the counters, sinks, cement steps, slope the yard etc...I guess there's still alot to do.

BUT! They gave us an official closing date:

Lucy's 1st Dentist Visit

She was surprisingly very brave! She had this nervous giggle thing going though, and every time the hygienist reached over to get something Lucy would flinch. She told the dentist not to take out any of her teeth, (thanks to Mike telling her he was going pull out her teeth.)  and liked the "crunchy" toothpaste and the "tickling" tooth brush. Good job Lucy!

P.S. Am I a nerd for taking pictures in the dentist office?

House Progress!

It's coming along!

The front door is painted! Yay! No more apartment front door with scratches, dents, non existent weather stripping and tape residue!

There's our banister. Our cabinets will be the same color.

There's our wall. (Don't mind the thermostat wire hanging out.)

The kitchen, all painted.

In the upper right corner will be our carpet.

We've waited so long for this.

Can it just be done already?!

Every time I close my eyes I see where I want to hang certain things, or I think of what I want to put where...I'm going nuts!

We are still waiting to get our 30 day notice. It should come any day! Then I can start a count down!!!!!
